The Weltnaturerbe Buchenwald Grumsin is embedded in the landscape of the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. There are five circular hiking trails in the Grumsin Beech Forest, each marked with a different colour. Four of them are signposted with a beech leaf symbol in different colours. These start from Altk\u00fcnkendorf, Gro\u00df-Ziethen, Luisenfelde and Zuchenberg. <\/p>

All hiking routes can be reached by public transport<\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Circular Hiking Route 'Gr\u00fcnes Buchenblatt' ('Green Beech Leaf')<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The circular hiking trail marked with a green beech leaf is 7.2 kilometres long. It starts in Gro\u00df-Ziethen at the Ice Age Museum of the Geopark Eiszeitland am Oderrand and can be reached by bus 920 see how to get there<\/a>. The route passes the life-size mammoth Georg in the museum’s outdoor area. You will pass the Sperlingsherberge, a protected stone quarry and place of discovery. Continue along the ‘Gelben Buchenblatt’ (“Yellow Beech Leaf”) trail in an easterly direction. In addition to moors, forest lakes and alder carr, a variety of beech forest stages can be observed here. Return along an old cobbled road through the core area. The orange marked circular hiking trail is also called the wilderness trail. It starts in Altk\u00fcnkendorf, for example at the Infopunkt<\/a> (Anfahrt von April bis Oktober mit dem Welterbebus m\u00f6glich)<\/a> and is 10.5 kilometres long. <\/p>

If you shorten this hiking trail at Luisenhof and take the cobbled Schmargendorfer Stra\u00dfe towards Altk\u00fcnkendorf, the hike takes only about two hours. This makes it the shortest of the circular hiking trails in the Grumsin Beech Forest. <\/p>

Please note:<\/strong> about two kilometres of the orange circular hiking trail are not barrier-free<\/a> (for prams, wheelchairs and the like). Some fallen trees are on the paths. These have been left deliberately to make the wilderness character more tangible. The starting point of the 10.3-kilometre-long Orange Beech Leaf circular hiking trail is Altk\u00fcnkendorf. The trail leads along open hilly landscapes, the core zone, moors and alder carrs. <\/p>

The 21.5-kilometre Red Beech Leaf circular hiking trail is the longest of the circular hiking trails and runs around the entire World Heritage Site. It can also be started at Altk\u00fcnkendorf, which has an Info Point and Visitor Centre. The hiking trail partly runs along the green, orange and yellow routes, past small villages, the Angerm\u00fcnde city forest and Lake Wolletzsee.

The Grumsin pleasure trail, on the other hand, connects regional producers, excursion destinations and nature over a distance of 17 kilometres. The hiking trail is marked with a turquoise \u201eG\u201c<\/span><\/strong> and starts at Angerm\u00fcnde train station. <\/p>

The trail passes through the villages of Sternfelde, Schmargendorf, Zuchenberg, Luisenhof, along the World Heritage Site in Grumsin and Altk\u00fcnkendorf.<\/p>
